Sasikiran to play back to back tournaments in Russia

Indian GM Krishnan Sasikiran is scheduled to play back to back tournaments in Russia. He will be playing in Group 'A' of the Moscow Open starting from 30-Jan and ending on 07-Feb.

Sasikiran will continue his stay in Russia by participating in Group 'A1' of the premier Aeroflot Open from 08-Feb. Other Indian players confirmed so far to play at Aeroflot are IM Dronavalli Harika, IM Ashwin Jayaram & WGM Eesha Karavade.

Sasikiran's current live rating is 2674.2 and if he can get good results in these 2 tournaments, he can hope to get closer to the 2700 one more time. The highest career rating Sasikiran has ever achieved in his career was 2711.

All the best to the Indian players for these two tournaments. I will be updating the live ratings as soon as I can after the rounds are finished each day.

• Anand took another draw with Ivanchuk today and I predict that he will finish the tournament with 13 draws as a preparation for his World Championship match against Topalov in April
• Negi halved the point against Nisipeanu 
• Harikrishna tried hard to translate his material advantage to a full point, but ended the day with a looooong draw 
• Abhijeet Gupta drew with Li Chao and both of them are in joint second position with 5.5/8 
• Soumya looked like having a winning advantage against Lie, but ended the day with a draw and is tied for last place in the group with 1.5/8
